Best Monitor for Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060

What is the GeForce GTX 1060?

GeForce GTX 1060 is the youngest member of the Pascal generation nVidia graphic cards, and it brings the highest performances for all modern games, as well as VR gaming with 1280 CUDA cores and 6GB GDDR5 memory.

If you check the specifications of the GeForce GTX 1060 you can see that they are more than impressive, memory speed of 8 Gbps; the essential clock speed is 1506, but it can be boosted up to the actual rate of 1708 MHz which is brilliant if you are looking for the most significant gaming experience. The card has 6GB of GDDR5 video memory which is quite useful in games such as Shadow of Mordor and GTA V.

If you are looking at buying the GeForce GTX 1060, you have two main options to choose from. You have a slightly less powerful version of the card, GeForce GTX 1060 with 3Gb GDDR5 and you have the beast version, that I love, by the way, GeForce GTX 1060 with 6Gb.

I can tell you for sure, and from my experience, when you are playing a game on 1080p and you look at the details, you will see that with 6 Gb of video RAM the details are a lot better than with 3Gb of video RAM. Of course, if you haven’t noticed, to reach the best level of graphics in some modern games you need to have over 4Gb video RAM configuration, so that’s why I prefer GeForce GTX 1060 with 6Gb video RAM.

Buying Guide Criteria

If you are going to buy a new graphics card for a better gaming experience, you have to know if your graphics card is compatible with your monitor. Installing a new graphics card is an excellent upgrading process for your PC. However, the hard part is to make sure that graphics card is compatible with your hardware because if it is not your gaming experience will not be so good. You will play on 50% of your graphics performance. That’s why if you want to play new games on the highest resolution or in what I like to call beast mode, you have to match your graphics card and monitor appropriately.

When you look at any card from the GeForce GTX series ten you can see that there are one HDMI port, one DVI-d port and three display ports, which means that you need the best monitor for gtx 1060 with these type of ports. You can’t plug in the monitor with VGA port, even if you have an adapter, it is not possible. So that’s the first thing you need to consider when you are buying a graphics card, look at ports, if you have VGA maybe it is time for a new monitor, or upgrade to a graphics card that supports a VGA port.

The monitors we use today are around 20-24,” and they have a pretty similar resolution that is 1920×1080, and for 27” or higher resolutions are around 2560×1440. If you want to go for the maximum in your gaming, you should use 1080p resolution, but for those wanting more, you must go for 1440p. Because with 1080 and 27” or higher every game you play can look pixelated to you, I strongly recommend going for 1440p. You can use Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6Gb video RAM for 1080p or lower, so you should go with 20-24” monitors for that. If you want to game on 1440p, GeForce GTX 1080 is perfect for that.

The refresh rate is a significant thing when you are choosing your monitor. If you get a monitor with 144Hz refresh rate, the frames per second in your game would be much lower. The quality of the picture and simulation, especially in combat games, 3D games, or the games where characters need to move very fast, can lag and the image will be worse with 120Hz-144Hz monitors.

If you take 60Hz-120Hz monitor it will run on 100+ frames per second, and the graphics will be excellent, motions and combat will be significant. In my opinion, 60Hz-120Hz monitors are better for GeForce GTX 1060 because on the 60Hz-120Hz monitor I can get maximum from the game and the gaming experience is much better. You can see every motion, fps, and you will never see any lag. But, if you go for over 120Hz monitors, you will have unstable fps, and if you are in a crucial fight with a lot of motion and a lot of action, the game can easily lag or even block.

3 Best Monitors for GTX 1060

If you are going to buy the monitor for your Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, you for sure don’t want to go over 1920×1080. Those monitors are the best choice for GeForce GTX 1060, and as I said you are looking for 60Hz-120Hz monitor, but if you want to go for a higher one you should know that you will sacrifice frames per second, and if you are sure that you want to do that you should definitely go for Acer Predator XB241H.

Acer Predator XB241H G-sync

ACER-PREDATOR-XB241H-REVIEW I personally like lower refresh rate monitors on this graphics card, but for those who want to try higher refresh rate, the Acer Predator XB241H is the best choice. The Acer Predator XB241H has vast bezels, they are very chunky but I wasn’t a massive fan of them. Because I’ve come across quite lovely gaming 3 side borderless monitors from Acer XF270HUA, I think that that monitor just looked fantastic, and it is just a shame that Acer predator XB241H doesn’t use the same design. The stand, itself allows a height adjustment, tilt adjustment and full pivot and rotation which is great because you can use in all sorts of situations. With this monitor, you get Nvidia G-sync, UL MB and you also have Nvidia 3D vision which is excellent because nVidia GeForce GTX 1060 has great 3D gaming requirements. Some may ask if G-sync is worth the money for which we suggest you read our write-up on it.
